Working Through a Dilemma
- Consult with a supervisor, peer, APS
- Describe the client and his or her circumstances
- Describe the choices
- Discuss what the ethical dilemma is, how it feels and how it conflicts with your values
- Weigh the dilemma against what is required by statute and take action
Here is one example of how you may work through an ethical dilemma. Consulting with a supervisor or if you have an agency policy or guidelines on handling an ethical dilemma follow it. If there are policies or guidelines consult using the above guidelines. Keep in mind that an ethical dilemma is not going to be easy to solve or find the best answer.
